The Birmingham Stage Company is the resident company of The Old Rep Theatre and celebrates its 16th anniversary in September. This award-winning company is a unique success story in British theatre, not least because it is run by an actor and 97% of its income comes entirely from the box office.
The BSC produces classic, contemporary, new plays and childrens' work. This year the company is devoting itself entirely to productions for children and their families - and all seven shows are touring nationally.
The company's patron is Sir Derek Jacobi, who plays an active part in the life of the company.
Current and forthcoming productions include:
A major new production of TREASURE ISLAND
GEORGE'S MARVELLOUS MEDICINE
The world premiere of HORRIBLE HISTORIES Live on Stage
DANNY THE CHAMPION OF THE WORLD by Roald Dahl adapted by David Wood
ELMER by David McKee
THE JUNGLE BOOK returning by public demand
A major new production of WHY THE WHALES CAME by Michael Morpurgo
SKELLIG by David Almond
The company also offers a comprehensive Education service as part of its national tours.

"The next generation of theatre-goers will be expecting the best in British theatre if they are treated to such quality productions as this one by the Birmingham Stage Company." THE STAGE
"The masters of children's theatre, the Birmingham Stage Company, bring their inimitable style to this classic tale." METRO
"The best theatre and writing for children cuts across all barriers of age and this is a show in which the old will recognise their younger selves and the very young get a fleeting glimpse of a yet unlived future. It is lump-in-the-throat stuff for adults and mysterious and magical for children" THE GUARDIAN
