Raising Money

Neal Foster chose a novel approach to raise money for the company's first productions. He persuaded sixteen well-known actors and writers to let him interview them live on stage in the West End and on Broadway and the audience paid to see the shows. His guests were:

- Dame Judi Dench and Alan Bennett
- Sir Ian McKellen and Michael Frayn
- Fiona Fullerton and Prunella Scales
- Jean Boht and Paul Eddington
- Sir Donald Sinden and Sylvia Syms
- Peter O'Toole
- Dustin Hoffman
- Jack Lemmon
- Sir Derek Jacobi

Neal also interviewed Richard Dreyfuss and Glenn Close on Broadway. As a result of the encounter, Richard Dreyfuss came to England the following year to direct the BSC's production of HAMLET.
